JSE company Omnia hit by cyber attack

JSE-listed chemicals group Omnia Holdings has revealed that they have been hit by a cyber-attack. Omnia supplies chemicals and specialized services and solutions for the agriculture, mining and chemical application industries.

The company became aware of an abnormal activity on its network on 12 March 2020 and their experts started investigating the incident immediately.

They also restricted the access to the IT infrastructure as a precautionary measure and implemented recovery procedures.

According to the Chief Executive Officer of Omnia, Seelan Gobalsamy, their production facilities and operations remained unaffected by the cyber-attack and they continue to serve the customers. Even though the impact on the Group was minimal, there might be some disruption from an administrative support perspective until the full functionality of the IT infrastructure has been restored.

The company values the integrity of its IT network and their IT security experts have been working around the clock to restore all systems and address disruptions in the most efficient and effective manner.

The group stated that all developments and progress will be regularly updated to all its stakeholders.
