Personnel records of software developer Wind River stolen

Wind River Systems, the global leader of embedded system software discloses a data breach that resulted in the theft of customers’ personal information.

The company that develops run-time software, middleware, development and simulation platforms claims that their technology is found in over 2 billion products.

The breach notification sent to the employees states that the security incident occurred on or around September 29, 2020 where the attackers accessed the personal information of its employees.

However, the company is not aware of misuse of the information included in the downloaded files and they also said that it has not found the stolen files online.

The personnel records accessed by the attackers may include birth dates, driver’s license numbers, national identification numbers, social insurance numbers, social security numbers, passport or visa numbers, health details, and/or financial account information.

More details regarding the breach are not known at the moment.
