The US based telecommunication company T-Mobile revealed a security breach which affected a small number of its prepaid customers.
The cybersecurity team of the company discovered and shut down malicious, unauthorized access to some information related to the T-Mobile prepaid wireless account.
The compromised data includes details such as customer names, billing addresses, phone numbers, account numbers, rate plans, and plan features.
The company assured that the attackers did not access any sensitive information like passwords, financial information, or social security numbers.
They have informed the law enforcement regarding the incident, and are contacting the affected customers now.
All the affected users would have received an SMS. If users have changed their numbers or switched to other providers and if they would like to know if they have been impacted, they can contact and ask the company for confirmation at [email protected]
T-Mobile recommends all impacted users to change their account passwords and PIN codes. For more details, the users can check the T-Mobile support page.
This is the second major security breach to be disclosed, affecting a US telecommunication company this year. More details about the incident is not known at the moment.
